Hamagin Space Science Centre - Field Trip by Grade 2
Grade 2 students recently embarked on a thrilling field trip to the Hamagin Space Science Centre, tying into their inquiry unit on Who We Are. The day was packed with fun and learning as students immersed themselves in the wonders of space and science.
The day began with students quickly walking and avoiding the rain as we walked to Kannai Station. Students did an excellent job at navigating the busy streets with their umbrellas and avoiding all of the big puddles that were in their way.
The adventure began in the planetarium, where students enjoyed a captivating presentation about constellations and our place in the vast universe. They marveled at the night sky, learning how to identify various constellations, and discussing the scale and wonder of space.
Following this, students explored the hands-on exhibits throughout the Space Science Centre. They eagerly participated in experiments and interactive experiences, deepening their understanding of the science behind space exploration and the forces that govern our world.
The highlight of the trip, though, was the time spent on Level 3 in the Space Training Room. This fun-filled area was packed with games and activities designed to test students’ reaction skills, balance, and teamwork. From interactive balance challenges to teamwork-based games, the Space Gym had students engaged, laughing, and learning as they put their skills to the test.
This memorable trip brought our inquiry unit to life in the most engaging way possible. A big thank you to the staff at Hamagin Space Science Centre for providing such an inspiring day of exploration and learning!
