CGK Soccer Club – Growing Stronger With Every Season

Elementary School March 10, 2026

Since its exciting launch in Term 1 of 2024, the CGK Soccer Club has been steadily growing into one of the most energetic extracurricular programs at CGK International School!

With humble beginnings at Shunsuke Park in 2024 on a single futsal court, student interest and enthusiasm saw the club rapidly grow. By 2025, there was a long waitlist of interested students. Because of this, the club found a new home at SAL SPORTS PARK in Asobuild (アソビル) with two futsal courts and the formation of dedicated upper and lower grade teams.

More Than Just Practice – Real Match Experience

One of the most exciting developments has been our active participation in inter-school matches. Competing against schools such as Yokohama International School (YIS), Horizon Japan International School (HJIS), and St. Maur International School has given our students invaluable real-game experience.

These matches have been intense, competitive, and full of learning moments:

  • There have been some narrow losses that have built resilience.
  • We had a thrilling 4–4 draw against St. Maur International School.
  • There have been hard-fought rematches that showed clear improvement in CGK players.
  • Both our teams (G1/2 and G3,4,5) secured their first victories over Yokohama International School!

Each match has helped our players grow — not only in skill, but in teamwork, communication, and confidence.

Building Confidence, Character, and Community

When it was launched, the CGK Soccer club had three goals.

  1. To build teamwork skills among the students.
  2. To increase students’ physical fitness and abilities.
  3. To have fun!

But it has delivered so much more! Through their experiences with the club, players have also learned about supporting teammates, developing perseverance after setbacks and celebrating progress together. They have always represented CGK with great pride.

Over the two years of the program, we have seen noticeable growth in confidence, leadership, and collaboration in the players — qualities that extend far beyond the soccer field. We are confident that these life lessons will serve the students well as they progress through their academic careers.

Looking Ahead

We have more upcoming matches and will participate in our first futsal tournament in March - the Horizon Primary Youth Cup. With more players, more games and more fun, the momentum for CGK Soccer club continues to build. CGK is committed to developing the club further and creating more opportunities for competition, growth, and community engagement.

We are proud of how far our players have come — and even more excited about where they are going next.

If you are looking for challenge, teamwork and fun, CGK Soccer Club is ready for you!
