New Zealand Study Abroad Information Session for ES/MS Students | Sun., May 14, 2023
We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a New Zealand Study Abroad Information Session for Elementary and Middle School Students at CGK International School on Sunday, 14th of May, 2023!
Mr. Mitsugi, the CEO of "NZ Ryugaku Office", will introduce the current situation of elementary and middle school study abroad in New Zealand.
"NZ Ryugaku Office" is a local Japanese company based in Auckland, New Zealand, which provides support for value-added study abroad programs for a paired parent-child, and for study abroad alone in elementary, middle, and high schools in New Zealand.
As a study abroad counselor in New Zealand with over 20 years of experience, he has a great understanding of the local school and study abroad experience. They can offer helpful advice on how Japanese students can get the most out of their New Zealand study abroad experience.
During the information session, we will show you videos of a parent-child study abroad program at an elementary school to give you a clearer picture of what it is like to study in New Zealand.
The focus of the session will be on study in New Zealand for elementary and middle school students, with some information on CGK's study abroad program, but the session will also be very useful for families with children who are not yet old enough for our study abroad programs and for families who do not belong to CGK.
This is a rare opportunity to ask questions directly to study abroad professional; Mr. Mitsugi of NZ Ryugaku Office. Thus, we recommend you join this event if you are interested in New Zealand study abroad programs.
Short-term study abroad programs planned at CGK
-
■ [To be implemented in November 2023] Local school inspection tour (approx. 7 days / stay can be extended). Accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Through cultural exchange programs and school tours with local schools, we plan a full program that will not only give you an image of campus life, but also of life in New Zealand and even future immigration. It is also recommended as preparation for the one-month study abroad program in March of the following year.
* We are currently in the process of confirming with the local school regarding the participation of children under the age of five. -
■ [To be implemented in March-April 2024] Short-term study in a local school (approx. 4 weeks / extension can be discussed). Accompanied by a parent or guardian.
In New Zealand children can enter elementary school from the day after they turn 5 years old so participation is possible from the age of 5 years old. Depending on the age of the child, the study abroad program may take place in a middle school.
This information session is open to non-CGK families, but the CGK Short-Term Study Abroad Programs are only open to CGK students.
The CGK short-term study abroad programmes are open to children who are enrolled in CGK elementary, preschool, or afterschool and who will be five years old or older by late March, 2024 (please contact us for more details).
During the first year of middle school at CGK (Grade 6 in Japan), children are required to study abroad for one year (please consult with us if you have special circumstances), but as they may struggle with homesickness, we recommend that they familiarise themselves with studying abroad for a short period of time beforehand.
Even if it is only for a short period of time, your child will grow from an environment that is very different from that of Japan. It is also a great opportunity for them to develop at a young age the diverse perspectives and values they will need in the future, and to become aware of the purpose of learning languages and learning about other cultures.
