Building Our Own CGK: Construction Worker Role-Play

As introduced in an earlier post, September’s Job Training theme was Construction Workers, exploring the people who work on building sites.
The children often saw construction sites on walks around town. In Jungle class (three-year-olds), we decided to bring this familiar work into the classroom through a construction craft project.
Their task was to “build” a CGK building.
First, each child created a window. Some filled theirs with many colors, while others drew faces, dinosaurs or other favorite things.
As the children became able to draw with a picture in mind, their free ideas showed us how much they were growing.
Each child put on their own tool belt and attached their window to the building as a construction job.
They enjoyed chatting as they worked: “I’ll be on the fourth floor!” and “Next to my friend!”
They added the finishing touches with Kevin. Some parts of the walls still needed color, so the children decorated them with crayons.
They looked delighted with their completed building.
We will treasure the CGK building that all of Jungle class created together!
