Children's Day - Japanese cultural study -
May 5th is Children's Day in Japan.
We and our kids made koinobori (carp streamers), that flutter in the wind to wish that the children will grow up to be healthy and strong.
By the way, do you know what the fluttering part above the carp is called?
They are called fukinagashi in Japanese, and they make it easier for the gods to notice that boys have been born.
In the past, it seems it was believed that gods come down from the sky and guard the children.
