Making Ties for Father’s Day

We made ties as a Father’s Day craft.
When we explained a tie as something their fathers might wear around their necks, the children smiled in recognition.
Each chose colors for finger painting, dipped a fingertip into the paint and made marks on the paper tie.
Some copied the teacher’s small dabs, while others spread the marks apart or stretched the paint across the paper. Everyone enjoyed expressing their ideas.
Afterward, they exclaimed at their colorful hands and showed their palms to friends.
Once dry, we added elastic to finish the ties.
We ended by gathering for a photograph.
