Before our walk, Hannah reminded everyone to keep their hands out of their pockets.
Even adults put their hands in pockets when cold, but if children fall with their hands tucked away, they may be unable to break the fall and could hit their heads.
Explaining the reason helped the children understand, and they were ready to walk with their hands out.
However, just as we went outside, rain began to fall.
We expected them to say “Rainy,” but instead heard “Sprinkling!”
Sprinkling describes a few drops of rain beginning to fall; drizzling describes light, fine rain continuing to fall.
When discussing the calendar and weather each day, teachers introduce varied English expressions. These daily conversations keep building the children’s vocabulary.
