[Video] Project Work - Social Studies / June 4, 2020

Afterschool June 11, 2020

Let's take a look at a CGK Afterschool Project Work lesson.

The day's subject is “Social Studies”.
The theme is “Community”.

The children thought hard about the teacher's question, "What does community mean to you?"

Thinking about relationships outside of school and family is a great opportunity for children to broaden their interests and viewpoints.
Living in a city also means they'll see all kinds of facilities, occupations and people interacting with one another.
We hope that by learning about their community, the children will consider their own role as citizens.

On this day we discussed, not only human communities, but also animal communities as well.

We learned that both animal and human communities have 'living things', leading to the following theme of how living creatures can live comfortably.

You can see in the video that the children struggled to find the answer, but this process is also an excellent learning experience.
The experience of thinking for themselves, rather than being told the answer, helps with future learning.

At CGK Afterschool, we praise the children for their willingness to try without being afraid of making mistakes, rather than just for finding the right answer.

They seem to enjoy finding the answer to the difficult questions, not just the easy ones!!
