Yokohama Excellence Game Report | CGK International School and Our Local Community
A big cheer. A closer community.
Basketball with Yokohama Excellence, CGK friends and our neighbours. A look back at October 17, from the things we made to the moments we shared.
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, Yokohama Budokan hosted CGK International School presents: Yokohama Excellence vs Gifu Swoops. CGK students, families and staff joined local supporters to cheer for Yokohama Excellence.
It was also Naka Ward Residents’ Day, with an official attendance of 2,457. For a school supporting children growing up in Yokohama, it was an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and spend time with the people who share our city.

CGK friends.
One shared cheer.
CGK arranged 164 seats for students, families and staff, and many CGK families and staff joined the day. Away from the classroom, children and adults cheered for the same team and enjoyed Yokohama sport together.
164 is the number of seats arranged, including day-of cancellations.
About two weeks.
Around 18 boxes of giveaway sets.
Preparations for our CGK Presents game took about two weeks. The sampling giveaway sets filled around 18 boxes. Staff worked together right up to the day, preparing handouts, getting the booth ready and putting the finishing touches on our materials.
We wanted visitors to have something enjoyable to take home. That idea took shape in cheering clappers, a school-bus papercraft and an exploration game set in Yokohama. Each brought a little of CGK’s playful spirit to the time around the basketball game.
A school made all this?
A little making, a little play and a shared cheer for CGK’s tenth anniversary. Here are some of the designs and activities prepared for our CGK Presents game.
Fold it. Clap it. Cheer.
A cheering clapper designed in collaboration with Yokohama Excellence brings together CGK navy and our tenth anniversary. Fold the sheet into a concertina, then join the crowd’s cheer.
Our school bus, in miniature.
A papercraft model based on CGK’s real school bus. With two sheets of paper, scissors and glue, you can make a small bus of your own.

This promo-bag artwork pairs a white base with CGK’s logo and Yokohama Excellence’s Pick & Roll. The design expresses the connection between our school and the club.

Our original YOKOHAMA QUEST takes players from Yokohama Budokan towards CGK’s Kannai Campus. Discover local spots and try the quizzes along the way. We hope a day of cheering can inspire a fresh look at the city around us, too.

A 96–86 comeback win.
Yokohama Excellence won 96–86. Trailing 66–69 at the end of the third quarter, the team turned the game around with a 30–17 final quarter. It was a chance to enjoy the excitement of sport together.
The Man of the Match was #13 Ohashi. Ms. Renae, CGK’s Preschool Principal, presented the MOM award. The moments before and after the game were another expression of our connection with the club.

More than
a single game.
CGK’s connection with Yokohama Excellence did not begin with this game. As fellow members of the Yokohama community, we have built the relationship one encounter at a time.
It began with the Business Club
CGK joined the Excellence Business Club in the 2023–24 season, beginning a connection with our local club.
School Festival, every year
Excellence has participated every year since 2023, in different ways: shooting activities, photo booths, messages of support and signed merchandise for our raffle.
Becoming a Gold Partner
CGK is a Gold Partner for the 2026–27 season. In our tenth-anniversary year, sport is helping us build more connections in our community.
To everyone who
shared the day with us.
Thank you to everyone who came along, everyone who helped with preparations and on the day, and everyone at Yokohama Excellence. We look forward to making more happy connections in the city where our children are growing up.
