Sand Play Between Rainy Days

The rainy season has limited our outdoor play, but the children still enjoy seasonal discoveries such as hydrangeas and the chance to wear rain boots.
After the rain, the sand at the park was just damp enough to hold shapes well, making it ideal for molding and playing.
Dry, pale sand in the sunshine felt warm and loose. When we brought some over to share, the children sprinkled it on their creations and explored its warmth and different texture.
Children use new experiences to adapt ideas and create things for themselves. We aim to give them opportunities to notice differences and explore a wide range of experiences.
