The Role of School Lunch in Education

CGK has selected La Petite Fourche as its new food service provider starting in 2024
(the preschool will change in October 2024).

Food plays an important role not only in terms of nutrition,
but also in the education of children.

We will continue to provide high quality school lunches.

Ingredients & Nutrition

The food we eat every day has a significant impact on our health, but the quality of food can also affect children in school in many ways, including undernourishment, an increase in obese children, poor immunity, poor concentration, and poor quality education.

Food plays an important role in helping children reach their full potential, not only in terms of health, but also in affecting their performance in education.

The 10 nutritional standards emphasized in food service at CGK are as follows:

  • Balanced meals – achieve a balance of good quality macronutrients, micronutrients, raw and cooked foods.
  • Local – we favor fresh, locally sourced produce.
  • Unprocessed – we favor whole foods and minimise the use of refined products.
  • Organic – where possible, if not, we attempt to minimise the chemical load and the use of additives.
  • Fats – we use only good quality fats, if exposing oils/fats to the heat we try to use only those stable under such conditions.
  • Salt – we favour natural unprocessed salts over nutritionally depleted refined salts.
  • Sugar – we aim to reduce simple sugar content and minimise the use of artificial sweeteners.
  • Fruits / Vegetables – we promote fresh seasonal produce as much as possible.
  • Support – we support local farmers who farm to our standards.
  • Respect – we are aware and sensitive to individual needs/ dietary restrictions.
