Moral Education Lesson for Project Work/モラルレッスン紹介

Here is an introduction to lessons at CGK Afterschool.
CGKアフタースクールでのレッスンについて紹介いたします。

CGK's eight-week-long project works will be based on the main “Driving Question”.
Here are the Driving Questions for this "Moral" lesson.
CGKの8週間に渡って行うプロジェクト活動では、メインとなる「ドライビングクエスチョン」に基づいて学んでいきます。
今回の「モラル」レッスンでのドライビングクエスチョンはこちらです。

"How can we build social cooperation skills?”
社会的な協調性を身につけるにはどうしたらいいのでしょうか？

The lesson theme was "Cooperation."
レッスンテーマは「協力」

We followed this theme and question with fun lessons each week that drew the student's interest.
Here are the comments of Mr. Bobby, the teacher who was in charge of the lessons.
このテーマと問いに沿って、毎週子どもたちの興味を引き出す楽しいレッスンを行いました。
担当していたBobby先生のコメントをつけてご紹介します。

Week 1
With the song of the next two month being “Remember Me” from the movie Coco, the students watched the movie and thought of questions to ask Ms. Alexia about Spanish culture and about the movie. The students created a see/think/wonder chart for their questions.
これから2ヶ月間、映画「リメンバー・ミー」の主題歌を歌うことになり、Bobby先生の知り合いのメキシコ人のAlexia先生にスペイン文化や映画について質問することになりました。そのため、映画を見て「See/Seek/Wonder チャート」を作成しながら質問を考えました。
 
Week 2
The students spoke with and had a mini Spanish lesson with Ms. Alexia. They asked her questions about the movie they watched and learned about elementary schools in America. After the interview, Ms. Alexia taught them how to sing the Spanish lyrics to the song “Remember Me”
今週、生徒たちはAlexia先生にインタビューし、ミニスペイン語レッスンをしてもらいました。先週考えた質問をしたり、アメリカの小学校について学んだりしました。インタビューのあと、Alexia先生が「リメンバー・ミー」のスペイン語の歌詞を教えてくれました。
 
Week 3
The students learned about friendship and how to make friends. Students created a friendship crown and shared what they think it means to be a good friend. During the presentation time students shared they crowns they made, and for their exit ticket about friendship.
この日は、「友情」について学び、友達の作り方について考えました。また、「友情の王冠」を製作し、いい友達とはどういうことかを考えクラスでシェアしました。プレゼンテーションでは、作った王冠を発表し、友情について振り返りました。
 
Week 4
Students read the book “Peanut Butter and Cupcake”. Students discussed how peanut butter made new friends. Students wrote about how they can make new friends and how they can keep the friends they make.
生徒たちは「Peanut Butter and Cupcake」という本を読みました。ピーナッツバターがどのようにして新しい友達を作ったのかを話し合いました。生徒たちは、新しい友達を作るにはどうしたらいいか、また作った友達を維持するにはどうしたらいいかについてまとめました。
 
Week 5
The students read the story “Duck & Goose”. After reading the book about cooperation, the students wrote about what they learned about from Duck and Goose about cooperation. Using what we learned about friendship as a scaffold.
生徒たちは「Duck & Goose」という物語を読みました。協力についての本を読んだ後、生徒たちはDuck and Gooseから協力について学んだことをまとめました。
 
Week 6
Today the kids played cooperation based games and challenges. The kids played three games about cooperation. The first being a human knot. Students made groups, held hands with opposite people then had to figure their way to make a circle. The second game was, as a group keep a balloon in the air using just their hands. The last game was a maze type game that the class had to navigate through. The exit ticket for the day was writing about how they can use cooperation.
今日、子供たちは協力をテーマにしたゲームにチャレンジしました。子供たちは、協力に関する3つのゲームをしました。最初のゲームは「人間の結び目」です。生徒たちはグループを作り、反対側の人と手をつなぎ、円を作るための方法を考えなければなりませんでした。2つ目のゲームは、グループで手を使って風船を空中に浮かべるというものです。最後のゲームは、迷路のようなゲームで、クラスのみんなはそこを通り抜けなければなりませんでした。この日の振り返りでは、どのようにして協力するかをまとめました。
 
 

Week 7-8
The students got into groups and discussed how they will make their poster about cooperation. The groups created works of art displaying cooperation an friendship building skills. The groups presented their final posters.
この週から生徒たちはグループに分かれ、協力について学んできたことをどのようにポスターにまとめるか話し合いました。ポスターは、協調性と友情を築くスキルを表現した作品になりました。最終プレゼンテーションでは、グループごとに製作したポスターを発表しました。

Moral lessons are a very abstract but important concept as a global skill, and it is also a part of what we want children to value as a human being.
In this project activity, the students were able to learn about "cooperation" through hands-on experience as they felt and thought about the balance between asserting one's own opinion and accepting the other's opinion.
We hope that this lesson will help the students to think about "cooperation" and "consideration for others" in the future.
モラルのレッスンは、とても抽象的ですがグローバルスキルとして大事な考え方であり、一人の人間としても子どもたちに大事にして欲しい部分でもあります。
今回のプロジェクト活動の中で、自分の意見を主張することと相手の意見を受け入れることのバランスを感じたり考えたりしている様子があり、子どもたちは「cooperation」について実際に体験しながら学ぶことができまいした。
このレッスンを通して、少しでも「協力」「相手を思いやる」ことについて今後も考えるきっかけになっていたら嬉しいです。
