International Preschool for Childcare and Global Education
Through "childcare" and "global education" from early childhood, CGK International School nurtures the physical and mental growth of children to provide them with infinite future possibilities.
Unlike other preschools/kindergartens, CGK International School doesn't just babysit children during childcare hours, but offers a wide variety of programs while at the same time providing the highest quality care. Through high-quality "global education," CGK International School stimulates curiosity and interest here in Yokohama and to the wide-world, raising "real global kids" who can think for themselves and demonstrate leadership.
Childcare+Global Education
Fulfilling Childcare & Education Program
At CGK, children are cared for full time from 8:30am to 5:00pm (8:00am to 6:30pm if extended care is included), 5 days a week. There are no shorter hours or less than 5 day-a-week courses. (Only 2 year olds can choose from 2-5 days per week)
For this reason, we are able to provide not only English education, but a full curriculum of subjects along with a variety of programs, which are of the highest standard in both quantity and quality. *The following programs include those not offered to 2-year-old classes.
Sending Students to Nada Junior High, One of the Toughest Schools in Japan
Pygmalion education, which has seen great success in the Kansai area, has been introduced to an international preschool for the first time in Japan. The Pygmalion Early Childhood Education Method has been adopted by Hama Gakuen (Hama Kids), which has the highest number of students accepted into Nada Junior High School, the most difficult junior high school to get into in Japan.
Developing "Acute Cognitive Abilities" and "Problem-solving Abilities"
With the rise of IT and AI, education that only focuses on knowledge / skill is becoming redundant. The Pygmalion method increases finger, spatial, graphic, number logic and language skills to enhance acute cognitive abilities, rather than simply cramming the students with knowledge.
Optimal Education for the Critical Childhood Years
Higher mental abilities are best developed in early childhood which is a critical time for brain growth. Conversely, if not nurtured with appropriate methods and materials during this period, a lower mental capacity that only allows for input of knowledge and skills will become fixed.
Unlicensed Nursery School
(Since opening, we have received a Certificate of Compliance according to the "Guidelines for Non-licensed Daycare Facilities" (認可外保育施設指導監督基準 under MEXT) six years in a row without any written or verbal censure on any point. In the annual on-site inspection, a wide range of checks are carried out, from facility safety standards, disaster prevention, fire prevention, and evacuation drills, health and hygiene management, to the assignment of qualified personnel, guidance plans, childcare records, etc.)
2 year olds: Approx. 18, 3 year olds: Approx. 48, 4 year olds: Approx. 24, 5 year olds: Approx. 24 *Ages as of April 1st *Please note that the number of the capacity is subject to change.

CGK Elementary School actively incorporates field trips, with each class taking various modes of transportation, such as school buses and trains, every month. In the first semester, three classes had 13 field trips. Some of the field trips are deeply related to the IB and the daily curriculum, while others are inspired by the children`s own interests, making them both fun and educational. Please take a look at the examples of field trips on our website.

<Day 1> The week started with us researching what dinosaurs are. We also started creating our information book filled with the knowledge we had learned through the day.
<Day 2> On this day, the students researched about what the dinosaurs ate. They learned about herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and what the biggest and smallest dinosaurs were.
<Day 3> On this day, the students researched about the extinction event that wiped out most of the dinosaurs. They learned that 66 million years ago a massive asteroid struck the Earth and caused mass devastation to the planet.
<Day 4> On this day, the student researched about fossils and had a great time digging up some fossil remains! They also had fun putting together their dinosaur skeletons.
<Day 5> On our final day, students research about the dinosaurs that survived the extinction event - birds! We also had a fantastic time at the dinosaur show at Kannai Hall.
All-in-all it was a fun and informative week in the CGK Dinosaur Summer Lab!
Currently at CGK International School, our 2-year old class offers a 2-day course on Thursday and Friday, a 3-day course on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or a 5-day course. In order to provide more options for our families, students will now be free to choose regular attendance days starting September 1, 2023. Families may choose between 2 and 5 days per week and choose which days that will include, for instance a 3-day course Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Choices may be limited by enrollment numbers on particular days and are first-come first-serve.
